Information You Send
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result. Norwalk Residents Directory does not keep a copy of that search. If you write to the contact mailbox, the message and the details you include are available to the operator only for responding and handling the request.
Routine Technical Logs
The host may record ordinary server data such as an IP address, browser type, page request, and timestamp. Aggregate views of that information help keep the pages working and show which references are useful. Basic cookies or related tools may be used for analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement.
Why the Limited Data Is Used
Technical data is used to operate the service, diagnose faults, count visits, and improve the reference pages. Visitor lists are not sold, and the operator does not build a personal profile of an individual reader.
Links Outside Norwalk Residents Directory
Links lead to Norwalk offices, Connecticut portals, courts, USPS, libraries, archives, and sponsored search tools. A submission made on an outside service is governed by that service’s own privacy policy and data practices, not by this one.
Who May Process Technical Data
Hosting and support providers may handle server logs. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Information is disclosed when a valid legal process requires it, and otherwise is limited to the service providers needed to keep the reference running.
Security and Retention
The service uses an encrypted connection. Logs are kept only for the operational, security, and measurement purposes that require them. There are no user accounts here, so the service does not hold a password or personal profile for a reader.
Readers Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. Information from a person under 18 is not knowingly collected. Contact the operator if a minor has sent personal information, and the information will be removed from the contact records that can be controlled.
Connecticut Data Rights
Where applicable, the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, effective July 1, 2023, provides rights such as access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out choices for covered personal data. The Act excludes state and local government entities and publicly available data from important parts of its scope, so it does not control a Norwalk assessor card, voter record, deed, or library item. Because this service keeps very little, a request normally means checking the contact mailbox and available server logs. Use the Contact page. Requests about records held by Connecticut, Fairfield County geography, or Norwalk offices belong with the custodian.
Policy Changes
A revised policy will be posted here with its new wording. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
